Many African countries recognize the challenges posed by lack of capacity in universities to meet the growing demand for tertiary education. Distance education and, to a certain extent, what we call the parallel program model are seen as ways to meet the demand.
As the world becomes a global village, the other strategic option parents, teachers and educators are recommending and pursuing is the opportunities offered by international education to leverage the successes of a variety of curricula and delivery models in other parts of the world to counter and reduce the knowledge gap between nations and to address some of our countries’ development needs.
The Canadian University Application Centre recognizes the importance of global education, international connections and networks for both foreign students as well as Canadian students and schools. The CUAC in Kenya includes several outstanding, world-class public Canadian Universities – Windsor, Saint Mary’s, Guelph, Victoria, Algoma, York’s Osgoode Hall Law School and McGill University’s Masters of Manufacturing Management. All are terrific government-funded Canadian Universities.

Whether you are in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti or Somalia – you are all welcome to start by contacting Ms. Halake in English, French or Swahili and arrange for free counselling on what opportunities the CUAC may offer you. If you are a good student with good financial support you will be a serious candidate. For excellent students some scholarships are available, although these are partial and do not cover all the costs.
Note that from time to time, CUAC sends delegates to counsel students and their parents, and to meet with local high school counsellors. Travel schedules are posted on this site and information is sent out by email to all students registered in our database.
